Random Thoughts: Dreamgirls Edition II

So where did I leave off? Oh yea thats right, I was writting my(grammatically impared)random thought-about the earlier broadway show Dreamgirls We left off saying how BIG Dreamgirls was and how many people looked to it as a standard in Broadway- movie sets, shinning shimmering costumes and great music made the show for what it was: A HIT!

Well, let me continue-
It was early November, and I was scheduled to go to a screening for Dreamgirls in Beverly Hills. I get there and walk in where the press were meeting and all and theres a huge room filled with all kinds of people- about 2-300 people, if not more. They were all sippin a lil wine, and eating some elegant snacks (caint spell ordurves lol) - soon the doors of the theatre opened and we moved from the lobby into a large room where two HUGE Oscar statues stood shinning.
The lights dimmed some and the spot light was focused on the center of the stage.
A little man came running down the aisle and onto the stage and introduced himself- none other than Mr. BILL CONDON, the screenwriter and director of the movie.

He talked about the movie and how it was an honor to make and how HE was made for this movie- I wouldn't have agreed, however, I saw the movie!

The movie razzled and dazzled in every chance it got.
From the very beginning, lavish colors and wonderful lighting ZOOMED and VROOOMED by the screen. Suddenly, the audience is on a ride like Universal Studios' back to the future lol. All around us we hear applause and cheering all coming from the surround sound of the movie, and up on the screen appears a small Detroit theatre, is an amateur talent show (This was like looking through a mirror in the 60's- it was soo real- and Im not just typing that, it almost made you think- where did they film this, cause NO place is like this any more) You also think, since this is a drama. This is the only punch we'll have for some time- but thats the furthest thing from the truth.

Even when the movie did not display an Act onstage the BEHIND THE SCENES drama and magic sparkled!
Like the time when the girls are learning a song ON THE SPOT by Jimmy Early- a James Brown kind of singer.

The roller coaster gets even better while we travel with the group, into stardom.

Now this movie isn't all fun and happiness, there are some dark sides to this as well- like Jimmy coping with his declining star status- ex members on welfare, and certain ones sleeping their way to the top. The story does get sticky, and icky but you can not help but LOVE & ENJOY EVERY MINUTE OF IT.

Some really big highlights of the film:

The Dreamgirls number, which people started clapping at. It was really really nice, almost made you think you were in the room with them- AMAZING!

Then the song AND I AM TELLING YOU - PEOPLE STOOD UP!!!! AND CHEERED- at a movie!!! dignified, quiet Beverly hills folks STOOD UP CHEERIN!! never seen anything like that in my life. They were talkin to the screen like it was real!!! lolol

All in all, the movie is sure to be THEE MOVIE to see at Christmas-

After you've opened your presents or have spent the day in the house or house hopping- GET YOU AND SOME FIRNEDS TOGETHER to see THIS MOVIE-

ITS THE ONLY WAY TO END YOUR CHRISTMAS DAY!!

The movie's soundtrack also made its debut this week to rave reviews- you might wanna cop it- I have it, and even though Im not a musicals fan, this album is nice- its also on itunes- where its gotten an even greater rating than some top albums and is number 6 for the entire itunes downloads!

Twinkie's New Material?

Well folks, blackgospelpromo.com has just released a flyer, stating that Twinkie would be debuting her new release with a couple of new artists, including her son "John Terrell (last time we saw John John- he was throwin "doo doo rhymes" at us on Twinkie's Live n Charlotte Album)

Did they mean, Twinkie will feature her new release "Home Once Again" or will Twinkie be featuring some new material from her "Praise and Worship" compilation CD thats just shown its face in stores summer of 06.
Well, its this blogger's thought, that the web site means she will be there singing songs from her last Live album- plain n simple- but you be the judge- Check back for more information once its available!

Thanks Joe.

Dreamgirls: A MOVIE YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS CHRISTMAS!!

Well, we'd be here all day, if we went into what a random thought post is- where it came from, who made it, and where it was first seen and all that- so we'll just say THANK YOU to those who inspire the "random thoughts" posts- which is a post that is created discussing an "off topic" subject.
Well today's random Thought, will be directed towards the movie "Dreamgirls" and how AWESOME THIS MOVIE IS!!
Yea, you know the story :)- with Jamie Foxx, Beyonce, and Eddie Murphey, coming out this month on christmas? Well, I just wanted to tell you all about this movie !

First, a few of us know about the original Broadway musical-but for those who dont: Dreamgirls is an opera like urban musical that follows three girls from a small chicago talent show- to being the most famous and well known girl group of the 60's and 70's. It features songs and styles that was famous for African Americans, and people alike in the 60's and 70's and also sets a trend for the broadway world and entertainment alike in the early 80's to early 90's.
The cast was made up of a lot of well known names of today.

The first -on the well known reel- was talented Loretta Devine, known for her role as Gloria on Waiting to Exhale. Yea, she was thin way back then lol- She played LoRelle, and did a great job. Next was "Moesha's Mom", Sheryl Lee Ralph, known as a huge spokeswoman for AIDS prevention and awareness. Ms. Ralph played the diana ross like character: Deena, and delighted everyone who saw her PERFECT spin on the role. Next was thee belter- Jennifer Holiday. You've seen Jennifer open for shows like Ellen, and sing and act on other shows like Alley McBeal. SHE WAS the show stopper!! Her musical scenes stole the show and left people gasping for air, trying to find out what in the world made this 5'5 lady sing with such POWER!

.
The crew got together for a long workshop for the show, which went through a lot of revisions. A lot of rehearsals and a lot of character building took place within the workshops- but in Decemeber of 1981, the cast and crew were finally ready to put on their show.

Within the beginning of January, a hit was known across New York and the states abroad, and the entire cast was celebrated. Winning MANY Tony awards and other credits- the show was a now the best show on broadway- despite the show "Nine". Well, if you find some one who went to the play, you'll find that the person has NEVER forgotten the experience!!
One of those persons was Bill Condon, who was one of the persons to put the show to screen. There were so mamy people who helped put this show to screen we really cant go into it, but many, like shows original song writer, Henry Krieger, contributed to the screen adaption in a large way!

Now we have three ladies who KNOCK U OUT, with a powerful and sensational performance that will literally make you move from your seat and want to act like the whole thing is the actual broadway play (clapping and cheering for the actors as they glide and JAM across the screen.)

Ill be back on line a lil bit later to give yall Part 2 of the random thought- along with more information and things you'd like to know - b4 seeing this EXTRA- ORDINARY movie :) WANNA DO SOMETHING AFTER YOU OPEN YOUR PRESENTS THAT WONT BE ANTICLIMATIC? GO SEE DREAMGIRLS!!!

WWW.THECLARKSISTERS.COM: Revised

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Let’s face it! 2007 is going to be a BIG year for the Clarks.
Their 'last' group album is being put out early to mid 2007 and it’s said that the best will be delivered for the Clarks.

One of the best things to come- is a revision of the Clark sisters OFFICIAL AND NUMBER ONE web site. Jeff Cross, president of the well operated- official Clark sister fan club and over seer of www.theclarksisters.com, had just enough time to chat with me about the new revisions the other day.

We're looking to do a lot of new things with the web site- as we have been planning to do for some time, and it is going to be nice

Among those 'new things' mentioned, was a new face for the Clark sister’s cyber home www.theclarksisters.com.

A new lay out will be coming for the site soon! Though the thought of a new lay out for the web site- almost seems unnecessary when looking at the current lay out.

Carefully and skillfully laid out, Jeff Cross shows his talent and abilities in the web site- with one of the highlights being the high frequented Clark sister photo album.
Most, if not all of the recent pictures are done by Cross himself, adding perfection onto the site. The fans also get a chance to support the sisters by looking into their up coming events on the web site.

It's hard to believe that a web site like that can get any better- but Cross says it can and will.

They (the Clark sisters) recently went to the photo shoot for their up coming album and the pictures came out great! We wanted to start updating then, but thought it would be best to add more pictures when the site is (revised)

One can't help but get excited and go tell everybody about the new web site- set to show its face in 2007!!

Keep looking and don’t forget to place your membership with the Clark fan club- its fantastic! www.theclarksisters.com
