Being A Christian-Being Aware

Hey all,
Even though this site is directed to support and uplift the ministries of The Clark Sisters and others, its always good to know and support the things out of the four walls of the church (seven walls for you folks that go to Mega-Churches lol)

Today is World AIDS day- and it's always good to stare this issue in the face and realize it for what it is. As some see it as a wake up call from God - and some others seeing it as a test of God to show strength and faith, either way, it is real, and finding some kind of safe- positive resolution is best!

Knowing these facts may help you in helping youself and helping others achieve and in some cases maintain a healthy, responsible and safe life-as the leading cause of infection is through sex and drugs. (There are many other ways of being infected by HIV/AIDS, and further research can always be found on these ways as well as prevention)

- The HIV/AIDS infection rate among black men is 6 times that of white men and the rate among black women is 16 times that of white women.

- AIDS is the leading cause of death for black women

- AIDS now accounts for 1 in 3 deaths among black men aged 25 to 40

- More children with AIDS are black than all other racial and ethnic groups combined

- Every day in the United States, about 100 people of color become infected with HIV

- More than two-thirds of all women in the United States who are infected with the AIDS virus are black

- Blacks represent over half (57%) of all new AIDS cases in the United States, though comprising less than a quarter (13%) of the population

- AIDS is the leading cause of death of blacks, age 25-44
